I used two sizes of classic white and ivory tissue puffs, intermingled with paper lanterns, hung by fishing line. Added to the mix were two of my large stemmed glass containers with curly willow arrangements to frame the bride and groom.

Lucky for me, we headed to TX to visit family and I snuck away for a bit to see the store for myself. I am here to tell you, it did not disappoint. The best way to describe it would be ‘beauty overload’. From the layout of the store to the incredible light fixtures to the shoes to the gowns themselves, it was all perfection.

Here are a few (ok- a ton) of photos I took during my visit.

I couldn’t leave the store without buying a little something! The perfect little book found me in the decorations room,  A Flower Wedding by Walter Crane.

Sallie and Clark’s wedding was on Saturday, Oct. 1st in Stamford, CT – just a 45 minute car ride from the Empire State Building. Stephen and I headed up on Friday with a car full of beautiful flowers. The wedding was outdoors, on the grounds of the pretty little church where the bride and groom attend.

Sallie is wonderfully laid-back and gave me completely control over choosing colors for the wedding as well as the flowers themselves. All she knew was that she wanted it to be an “autumn wedding”. Although I love fall weddings, my desire was to do something different from the traditional gold+orange+brown that is usually done. I went with an array of colors with a couple of key jewel-toned pieces to anchor the concept. Her bouquet was a mix of calla lilies, roses, eucalyptus, spray roses and leaves.

For the centerpieces, I used an assortment of natural baskets and milk glass as containers. Not a single centerpiece was alike, which I think added interest to the reception. The day was wonderful and I am so thankful that both Stephen and I got to be a part of it!

In addition to the flower market, I hiked over to Mood fabrics. In part, the errand was to see the sometimes-backdrop of one of my favorite shows, Project Runway. But mostly, I was there to do some work. The ribbon selection is mind-numbing and while shopping for ribbon for Sallie’s bouquet, I took advantage of the trip to load up on materials for several upcoming brides back home. It was such a treat to see the space I’ve seen only on TV for so many years… it’s like seeing the Plinko board from the Price Is Right in person, but more exciting. I will say that while the fabric supply is nearly endless, the store felt smaller than it looks on the show. No Tim Gunn, but the visit WAS capped by meeting a celebrity – Swatch the dog. He was just as nice in person as you would think. And well groomed.

Nothing more inspiring than a trip to NY!

The wedding was in Connecticut, so we booked flights to arrive a few days before the wedding so we’d have time to eat and shop our way through my old stomping grounds. While we’re on the subject, may I recommend a few staples in my NYC diet? Supper, Caraccas, Shake Shack and Lombardi’s

Nightly slumber parties with our dear family friends the Isbells and their 3 adorable boys in Harlem was certainly a highlight.

Stephen did a couple of family photo shoots of some our favorite New Yorkers (the Isbells and the Pauls) on The High Line. If you are in the city- plan an afternoon visit. That place is awesome.

Oh yeah, and on this trip we found out we are having a baby! Trust me when I say you’ll be hearing more about this newsflash very soon.

All in all, it was a work-filled but fun-filled homecoming tour.

Basic ideas were in place, but after some further brainstorming, Jennifer and I had fleshed out the rest of the details… ‘Details’ is Jennifer’s middle name – I’ve seen a copy of the birth certificate, which is to say that she’s REALLY good at what she does.

The concept of the setting was a play on a country song called ‘Honey Bee’ by Blake Shelton and portrays a couple’s engagement. The purpose of the shoot was A. to show that Mr.&Mrs. Events knows their stuff and B. to provide inspiration to brides with Internet access and proper Google searching abilities. With the black and white striped tablecloth contrasted by gold flatware and gold chargers, I finally had an opportunity to use some interesting brass containers I had been collecting. As for the flower arrangements, you’ll see that I chose jewel-toned blooms mixed with some soft pastels – a color combo which I felt provided a season-unspecific look. I truly love the outcome and can’t wait for another styled shoot with Jennifer. Here’s to hoping for some Pinterest love!

Talia’s color palate was pink lemonade and yellow, so I made her bouquet a mix of yellow and soft pink garden roses with white accents, plus tea and hosta leaves. To date, her pink garden roses are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The bridesmaids’ bouquets had free spirit roses, spray roses, along with tea and hosta leaves. Being the crafty lady she is, Talia made rectangular flowers boxes out of old wood for the centerpiece containers, growing grass in the boxes herself. I simply added pink, ivory and yellow gerber daisies to complete the look.

It was a gorgeous wedding at the Governor’s Club in Brentwood, TN and Talia was so much fun to work with… I could not be happier with the outcome!
